We mourn the loss of Ladies Auxiliary President Estelle Hafner

Bloomington - Estelle M. Hafner 'Stelle'. 74, of Greenkill Road, died Wednesday September 5, 2012 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston with her loving family at her side after a 6 year illness with cancer. She was born in North Tarrytown July 23, 1938 a daughter of the late James F. and Mazie F. Bedford Smith. She was a 1957 graduate of Kingston High School. Prior to her retirement she had been employed by Metropolitan Life Hall of Records, the US Postal Service, and Dr. Joseph Rienzi's office in Kingston. Stelle was currently the President of Bloomington Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary, and a member of Hudson Valley and Ulster County Volunteer Firemans Association Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed bowling in several area leagues for many years. She was a member of the Kingston Womens Bowling Association for 25 years and a director for 6 years and also served on the Board. She had served as President and Vice President of the Friendship Bowling League, past Secretary and Treasurer of the Friday Night Mixed Up League, and a Director for USBC for 7 years. Stelle was inducted in the USBC Hall of Fame in April of 2012. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City and Long Beach Island in NJ, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, but mostly spending time and cooking for her family. She also had been involved with the Girl Scouts of America. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph A. Hafner Sr., a son Joseph Hafner Jr. and his wife Karin of Cottekill, 2 daughters, Jeanette Longendyke and her husband Richard of Hurley and Christine MacCreery and her husband Scott of Hurley, 3 grandchildren, Brianna and Joseph (Joey) Hafner and Alexander Longendyke. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Her brother, Owen Smith, died previously. Her funeral will be held from the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale on Monday at 9 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM at St. Peters Church, Rosendale. Rev. Andrew Florez will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Rosendale. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 6 PM. Memorial donations are requested to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
